John L. Scott, the founder of John L. Scott Real Estate, was born near Glasgow, Scotland in 1898. In 1923 he set out upon on a two year journey that saw him immigrate to the United States, eventually settling in Seattle in 1925. Soon after his arrival, John L. Scott began working as a sales associate in a local real estate office and then in 1931, established his own real estate company, building a successful business on his integrity and ambition to provide the highest quality customer service.
Three generations later, John L. Scott’s strong heritage continues through his grandson and current Chairman and CEO, J. Lennox Scott. What started with one office over seventy years ago has grown to become one of the largest independent residential real estate companies in the United States, with over 4,000 sales associates in more than 125 offices throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
